On Aug. 31st “The Sprague Fire”, ignited by lightning on Aug. 10th, grew explosively through Glacier’s extremely hot and dry lodgepole and tamarack forest. Sadly, the flames gutted the 114-year-old Sperry Chalet, one of the last remaining hopes of preserving the memory of the chalets’ era in Glacier National Park.
